I’m not a fan of horror films, but I imagine that the increase in the number of cremations will have had a detrimental effect on horror films.
The only snippets of vaguely horror-like films that I’ve seen have had scenes set in graveyards with zombified bodies rising up from the graves.
I can’t imagine that puddles of dust rising up from the earth has the same frightening effect as putrefying flesh.
“Oh look! There’s dust on the ground”
“So?”
“Well, it’s … erm … swirling about a bit.” <Cough>
“And?”
“Yeah, you’re right … it doesn’t look particularly threatening, does it!”
Anyway, that’s what I was thinking of as I drove through the freezing fog, past the graveyard on my way home this evening.
