Walk

This year, I need to walk more, I need to cycle more, I need to move more and leave the car at home, especially for short journeys.

At lunchtime today, I took a walk to the high street to buy some stamps at the mobile post office; it only comes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a couple of hours.

It was good to get out of the house, breathe in some fresh air and admire how muddy my usual walking loop had become after so much rain. The local fields are drenched and flooded in places.

Here is to more walking in 2024.

Happy New Year 2024

Sitting at my table enjoying the peace and quiet

Over the last few weeks, I have been pondering what I need to focus on in 2024. It came to me the other day: I need to both slow down and move more.

I love working from home, but I now live a mostly sedentary life which has been terrible for my health. I need to move more.

Despite my sedentary lifestyle, I try to pack as much into each day as I can—I am always busy… too busy. I need more space in my life, more rest, more peace and quiet.

I enjoyed a moment this morning just sitting in silence at my table, looking out my window to the blue sky and sunshine. It was nice to just ‘be’.

In the early afternoon, I went for my first bike ride of the year. Just 25 minutes, but enough to get me moving and feel the sun on my face and the biting cold wind tear through my clothing, chilling me to the bone.

A good start to the year.

Steven Wilson—December Skies (2023)

This year, musician-extraordinaire Steven Wilson was challenged by a friend why he had never written a Christmas song.

He replied that he didn’t think he had it in him to write Christmassy lyrics.

No problem, his friend told him, we’ll instruct ChatGPT to write Christmas lyrics in the style of Steven Wilson. But don’t mention Christmas. And make it feel more lonely.

This was the result. I like it better than most Christmas tracks.

Trello classic label colours v2.0.0

I have updated my Trello classic label colours CSS hack using the Stylish extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

You can find the updates on my GitHub:

https://github.com/garethjmsaunders/trello-label-colours

I have removed this style from Userstyles.org as it was throwing unknown errors or claiming that the CSS had an error every time I tried to upload changes.
