I’ve released a new update for Rename Divi Projects, my plugin that customises Divi’s built-in Projects custom post type so you can use it for content that better fits your site (properties, case studies, books, albums, and more).
Divi 5 compatibility
The big headline: the plugin is now compatible with Divi 5, while continuing to support Divi 4.
If you’re moving to Divi 5 (or already there), you can keep using your renamed Projects setup and continue working with Divi’s project-related modules.
It will soon be available on the Divi Marketplace.
It is now also available on GitHub under a GPL v3 licence.
A small refactor – better WordPress conventions
Alongside Divi 5 support, I’ve done a tidy-up pass through the codebase to better follow common WordPress conventions.
Nothing flashy, but it should make the plugin easier to maintain, use fewer server resources and be more consistent with how WordPress plugins are typically structured.
Settings moved to the Divi menu
The settings screen has moved to a more logical home:
- Now: Divi > Rename Divi Projects
- Previously: under Settings
This keeps it where Divi users will naturally look for Divi-related options.
New option: hide Projects from certain user roles
I’ve also added a new option to hide Projects from specific user role levels.
Why? On many sites, not every user role should see or access that content type in the admin area. By default, Divi Projects behave much like regular WordPress posts, which may be more access than you want. This update gives you a simple way to control visibility so only the right roles see Projects in wp-admin.
Update notes
As always, after updating, if you’ve changed slugs or anything permalink-related, it can be worth flushing permalinks:
- Go to Settings > Permalinks
- Select Save Changes
If you use Rename Divi Projects and have feedback, send it my way – I’m continuing to refine this plugin as Divi evolves.
Finally, open-source and free
One more thing – and this one makes me really happy.
I’ve now made Rename Divi Projects completely free. I’ve submitted the latest version to the Elegant Themes team for review on the Divi Marketplace, and I’ve dropped the price to USD $0.00. That’s right – free.
It’s my little gift to the Divi community for all the support I’ve received over the years.
Even better, the code is now open-source. You can find it on GitHub, download it, fork it and adapt it under the GPL v3 licence.
