Junk E-mail

Unbelievable!  Since Sunday I’ve been sent 499 spam (unsolicited/junk) e-mails to my home accounts!

I was reading recently that currently something like 90+% of all email is spam, and that it comes from only a handful of sources.

In many ways I’d much rather our governments waged a ‘war’ on spammers than on the anonymous face of international terrorism.

  1. Hmm. I’ve had a fairly quiet last 24hrs, it seems.

    * 60 mails rejected at connection-time due to strong sender-verification-callout issues – all spam.
    * 8 mails scored between 6-10 by spamassassin, all spam.
    * 11 mails identified as spam by bogofilter, all correct[0].
    * 4 mails identified as spam by various RBL filters, all correct (wow).
    * 201 Non-spam emails
    * 73 Non-spam non-alert/system emails.

    What’s the problem with email again? 😉

    [0] that’s SA being only 80% as effective; one of those emails was from apple which I consider spam in bogofilter but not SA.

  2. I found I get a lot of spam in my spam folder. Nothing into my inbox.
    However I have to check my spam constantly since an email from the webmaster of the SEC site, Justin Reynolds went straight there! it was from his website domain email address.
    Thunderbird is lovely though, I dont see any spam when I use that 😀
