I’m currently checking out the “KDE 4.0 Live” CD that I got with Linux Format magazine last week.
I’m quite impressed, I have to say, although it doesn’t appear to have recognised my graphics card properly as I can only get a maximum 800 x 600 resolution, which is rather frustrating.
Off to try Ubuntu 7.10 Live now on this PC setup.
I’ve just been checking out the WordPress 2.5 Sneak Peek on the WordPress Development Blog.
I’ve just downloaded Release Candidate 1 and installed it on my localhost test environment and in the five minutes that I’ve been poking around I have to say that I really do like what they’ve done.
The back-end has been given quite a shake-up … and for the better in my opinion.
The most notable thing is that they’ve reduced the main navigation from 9 or 10 items (depending on whether you’re hosting your own installation or using the hosted WordPress.com version) to four:
As a seasoned WordPress user it was fairly intuitive as to where they’d stashed the other options, but for new users it looks as this new redesign will make it much, much easier for folks to simply focus on writing content without these other options getting in the way.
Next step will be to check it out with my favourite plugins to see if I can start developing with this version.
Good review of the new O2 Xda Orbit 2 on the Mobile Computer website.
