How strange(ways)! I’ve just received an SMS text message supposedly from HMP Saughton Edinburgh.
I’ve not been in prison since Christmas 2005.
I was there for a carol service in the chapel. And before that I was in for about a year (1997-1998), as a … well, my badge read “Student Chaplain”.
But there weren’t many students there, just prison officers, convicts and (mostly young) men on remand, so I just had to be a chaplaincy student. That was during my ordination training.
I really enjoyed that experience.
