Firefox: 1 million in 10 days

Amazing! Firefox are trying to get 1 million (that’s 1,000,000) users to download the latest incarnation of the Mozilla Firefox web browser in ten days. And it looks like they may well be on target, claiming “nearly 790,000 people have downloaded Firefox in 3 days”.

I’ve said before that I love the Firefox browser, and I’ll say it again. I love the Firefox browser. I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant moving away from Internet Explorer 6 but that was about a month ago, and I’ve hardly used IE since. Firefox is fast; highly customizable; uses tabbed-windows instead of spawning window after window on your screen and taskbar; and most importantly it adheres to the web-standards, such as CSS-2, so displays pages the way they are supposed to display.

Come join the revolution!

  1. Hi Gareth,
Interesting! I’m always “worried” though about having two of anything on my PC. Tried Opera once… felt uncomfortable… Though saying that I have Outlook Express AND Outlook 2003. I know they work in different ways but it still bugs me!!
Since I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 though I’ve found Internet Explorer to be a transformed beast! I almost *like* it now! No pop-ups, warnings about ActiveX etc. Splendid! Not had any pesky Trojans since I installed it and made sure the firewall was on high alert…
As for CSS… best of luck. I’m just starting on JAVA! :/

  2. gareth!

as one of those dreaded Mac people, i pretty much stick to explorer. but your exuberance for Firefox/Mozilla was such that i gave it a try, and now THERE’S NO GOING BACK. thanks for the tip! Firefox is so much faster, so much smarter than Explorer — and the less i have to do with Microsoft, the better.

i called my brother ben and told him to try it, and now he also burns with the fervor of the recent convert.
