If you want to connect your Psion to your PC then you will need PsiWin and an RS232 serial cable. The latest version is PsiWin 2.3.3.

You can use PsiWin 2.3.3 to connect the following PDAs

PsiWin 1.1: If you want to connect a Psion SIBO machine to Windows 3.1x then you can also use PsiWin 1.1 which offers convertion for SIBO sound and graphics files unavailable in 2.3.3.

Uninstall problems Some people have experienced problems installing or uninstalling PsiWin 2.x, including removing the My Psion icon from the Desktop. This Registry Cleaner removes only the Registry entries that PsiWin makes. I downloaded it from Mike McConnell's excellent website. Simply unzip the contents to the Desktop and right-click the .inf file and select Install. All PsiWin 2.x-related Registry entries will be removed. Then immediately re-boot. Download (6KB Zip)

Registry Tweak for Psion SIBO PDAs

 Using PsiWin 2.3.3

You can use PsiWin 2.3.3 with your Psion SIBO machine. This is now available as a free download on the Psion website. HOWEVER you may need to make an alteration to the registry to allow it to work properly.

To connect your Psion SIBO machine to your PC you will require a special RS232 cable (for Siena, 3c and 3mx) or a 3Link cable for the Series 3 Classic or Series 3a.

Connection problems?

If you are having real problems connecting to either PsiWin 1.1 or PsiWin 2.x you can test to see whether your Psion and Windows are even communicating at the most basic level by opening up the COMMS application on your Psion and HyperTerminal on your PC. More details can be found at Mike McConnell's excellent website www.mgmcc.myby.co.uk under General Info, then click on Comms-Hyper.

Convertion

Series 3/3a/3c/3mx or Siena files can now be converted to PC format and vice versa. This option was previously unavailable in PsiWin 2.1.

Convertion is done via a drag-and-drop method, or via the Psion | Convert option in PsiWin. A dialog box will pop-up offering you various convertion formats and options.

PsiWin 2.3.3 is EXCELLENT for installing Psion applications to the Siena, Series 3/3a/3c/3mx. Simply open a Windows Explorer folder containing the Psion app files and drag and drop them onto the PsiWin explorer window.

PsiWin 2.3.3 also makes backing up files simple. I personally back-up my Psion using both PsiWin 1.1 and PsiWin 2.3.3 (as well as Psi-Sync). This way I always have another current backup should one fail.
