Music Publisher is somewhere between a DTP package and a word processor, but for music scores. It is not free, but well worth it.
Music Publisher now has a scanning module available for it, so you can scan in existing scores and edit them.
Registered users can also download the latest version from the Braeburn website.
The latest version is for Windows 95 and above; there is a version for MS-DOS called Noteworthy, and earlier versions of MusPub run under Windows 3.1x, contact Braeburn Software for details.

This is an absolutely brilliant tool for guitarists! PowerTAB, as the name suggests, produces professional-looking TAB scores, in both TAB and standard notation. You simply enter TAB and PowerTAB automatically inserts the standard notation in the stave above.
PowerTAB is packed with features, including the ability to play-back via MIDI what you have written, plus you can download hundreds of scores from the internet.

This isn't like some chord finding software which only displays four or five pre-programmed patterns for each chord, this finds every possible configuration, e.g. C Major offers 458 positions.
