=========================================== W i n d o w s 9 x S p e e d U p M o d e m D i a l i n g =========================================== This one is great for that 'speedy feeling' Or as someone wrote about this tweak: "This way your modem will dial like it does in the movies! Lightening fast! I love this tweak!" == How to do it 1. Open up the Modems Control Panel. 2. Select your modem and click Properties 3. Click the Connection tab and the Advanced button (bottom right). 4. In extra settings type: S11=50 == What it does The S11 register determines the delay (in milliseconds) between each digit dialled. The lower the value the faster the modem will dial. The default is 95 milliseconds. The acceptable range is from 50 to 255 milliseconds. However, the supported settings depend on your modem; some modems, for example, may support only a range of 50 to 100. Enter the lowest possible value that your modem supports. If you enter a value lower than the supported setting, your modem will default to its default (95ms). == What else can I do? Some users have found other settings useful: S6=x The S6 register tells the modem how long to wait (in seconds) for a dial tone. E.g. S6=10 (10 seconds) S10=x The S10 register tells the modem how long to wait, in 1/10 seconds, before hanging up after loss of carrier. This can help prevent disconnections. E.g. S10=25 (2.5 seconds) S10=50 (5 seconds) == Putting them together If you do use these settings in Advanced extra settings simply type them one after another with no spaces, and no punctuation, e.g. S6=10S10=25S11=50
