There was a real Arthur Dent, a religious writer who about 1600 published a book called _The Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven_. If you're a poor person who wants to get off the planet I guess it helps to know one Arthur Dent or the other. The English & French Version of the book Egg: As everyone knows, the man from a small planet in the vicinity of Beetlejeuse (the one with one head) is named Ford Prefect. A slightly less known fact is that this is a joke, because the Ford Prefect was a very popular car when HHGTTG was written, so, a lot of people were saying the name. Thus, it would make sense for an alien to name himself that. An even lesser known fact. When the book was translated into French, the translator realized that most people who would be reading the French version would not know the above-mentioned joke. So, in the French version of the story, Ford's name is Ford Escort, a more well known car. Grug To quote Mr. Adams himself: "While I was filling in the details of the first plot - in which the Earth was demoolished to make way for a new hyperspace express route - I realized that I needed to have someone from a different planet around to tell the reader what was going on, to give the story the context it needed. So I had to work out who he was and what he was doing on Earth. I decided to call him Ford Prefect. (This was a joke that missed American audiences entirely of course, since they had never heard of the rather oddly named car, and many thought it was a typing error for Perfect.) I explained in the text that the minimal research my alien character had done before arriving on this planet had led him to believe that this name would be 'nicely inconspicuous'. He had simply mistaken the dominant life form..." Phar Actually, the French version is quite well traduced. You find another funny thing in the traduction of the name "Zaphod Breeblebox" (I'm not sure it's the correct spelling!). In french, it gives "Zappy Bibicy", which is a reference to the English Broadcasting company BBC. Well, we could spend years commenting the traductions of this great book. emmak The point is that is doesn't make sense to be called Ford Prefect, same as Chevy '57 would be an unusual name for a person............ MOVIES A Bugs Life When Flik leaves Ant Island to find the warrior bugs, he goes to the large "city," made of boxes, bottles, and other junk. They cuss a lot. The movie Egg: In the scene where Flick is just arriving at 'the big city' (after the one fly gets toasted by the bug zapper) - the big city is near a camper - well, the truck parked outside the camper as actually the delivery truck from Pizza Planet (from Toy Story). Also, shortly afterward, in the big city, which is made up of garbage, there is an old Pizza Planet paper cup in this scene. I have watched the movie and in every scene that Anakin has a shadow I have looked at it frame by frame and not once does he have Darth Vader's Shadow. Skywalker Where exactly does this happen? When they are walking back to the ship during what scene? Mistress Qui-Gon This is simply untrue. Though it was reported on TheForce.Net (a generally reliable source) recently that an insider has confirmed Anakin casts a Vader shadow during one scene in Watto's junk shop. I haven't seen it so I won't comment on the veracity of that one. Skywalker I have not seen Anakin cast a Vader shadow anywhere in the 11 times that I have seen this movie. The only Vader shadow that exists is in the junk shop (see Vader's Suit in Junk Shop) where the shadow of Vader's suit is on the wall behind Qui-Gon as he bargains the conditions of the race bet with Watto. Goat That and the Ep 1 poster with Anakin :) But Tatooine has 2 suns, I believe, which would make Anakin give off two shadows... I suppose effect is more important than "fact" (using the term loosely) in this case? dave well from what I CAN SEE......... it looks as if when Anakin is walking down the stairs into the junkshop when you see him for the FIRST TIME it COULD be the Vader shadow after the second step going down..... (I think ) its HARD to see on my crappy VHS copy....... MIBoy Goat's right, Anakin casting Darth Vader's shadow was a promotional poster for The Phantom Menace. I don't remember seeing the scene from the poster anywhere in the movie. Xel oh somebody thinks theyre an astronomer! :) Tattooine has (at least) 2 suns, yes, but not both of them are necessarily shining on Anakin when he's casting the shadow (in the poster). one could have set. or one could be behind something. or one could be up your ass. :) ==== ETs in Senate Hearing Rating: 7.4 of 10 (76 votes cast) Source: Kirk Allen Evans Requires: None Egg: During the senate hearing, look over the queen's shoulder at the bottom left of the screen. Scooby If you look carefully, 1138 appears in every single star wars film. In episode 4 it's the princess's cell block, but i don't remember where it's in 5 and 6 off the top of my head Stingray If you look closely you will notice that 1138 appears in every film of George Lucas. And as Lucas and Spielberg are close friends Spielberg uses it too sometimes. For example in the cartoon "Pinky and the Brain", which Spielberg is the producer of. In the opening scene Brain can be seen writing "THX=1138" on a blackboard. XtatiK Puppyraper Scooby> If my memory isn't all that corrupt I believe it isn't the princess' cell that's 1138.
