Mah Jong kanji font

In 2003 I had a plan to design a TrueType Font (TTF) that contained the main kanji used in Mah Jong.

Not everybody wants to install the unicode tools or an Input Method Editor (IME) and for many people they need to use Mah Jong kanji very infrequently. So a dedicated, simple true-type font might be very useful, thought I.

I spent a couple of weeks researching the various kanji used in Mah Jong. Tom Sloper was very helpful in this task; thanks Tom!

I compiled what I had learned about the kanji, their Unicode values and decided to create a draft font using the kanji contained in two Unicode fonts: SimHei and SimSun.

The results were surprisingly good that I have included them on this page. One day soon I'll get around to designing my own.
