========================================= M i n d e r T e c h N e t w o r k M J versions 5.0 and 6.0 R e g i s t r a t i o n t i p s ========================================= Each time you install, or re-install Mindertech Mah Jong Network v.5.0 or v.6.0 you are required to connect to the internet to register. To save you having to do this each time you can simply export to file the appropriate Registry key once you have registered and keep it safe for later. === NOTES (1) This IS NOT a tip on how to hack the demo version. (2) This IS a general back-up tip. (3) It works for both version 5.0 which was freeware and the shareware version 6.0. This means that if you registered while MJ was freeware you do not need to purchase version 6.0 should you have to reinstall for whatever reason. (4) The version 5.0 registration key will not activate version 6.0, and vice versa. === HOW TO DO IT [I assume here that you have some experience editing and working with the Windows Registry. Remember to backup the registry before you work on it.] 1. Once you have installed MinderTech Mah Jong and registered it you will be sent a registration code which you enter in the program. Once done this will unlock the program. 2. To backup the registration registry key go to START | Run... 3. In the dialog box enter REGEDIT and then press the OK button. 4. Navigate to the following registry key: === For MJ 5.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MinderTech\MJ\5.0 === For MJ 6.0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MinderTech\MJ\6.0 5. Select the key with the version number (either 5.0 or 6.0) in the left-hand pane and from Registry menu select Export Registry File... 6. Give the file a useful filename, e.g. Mindertech MJ6. Make sure that the Save as Type is a "Registration File (.reg)" and that only the "selected branch" is saved. 7. Click OK. 8. The following information will be saved in a .reg file. REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MinderTech\MJ\X.0] "license"="xxxxxx" "Name"="name@isp.com " "Cust"="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" "Seed"=dword:xxxxxxxx (a) Where (x) represents either a whole number or a hex letter. (b) Notice that there are a number of spaces after the e-mail address; this is the e-mail address you used to register the program. 9. Back-up the file to a safe place. === HOW TO RESTORE THE REGISTRATION 1. If you have re-installed the application and want to re-register, rather than going on-line and having to wait for the registration to come through simply double-click the .reg file you created above. The data will be merged into the Registry and the application will be unlocked. === FILE INFORMATION This file was written by Gareth J. M.
